With cute dimples on her cheek, there is hardly anyone who can't fall
in love Preity Zinta. She was born in a Hindu Rajput family on 31st
January, 1975, her birthday today. Her father was an army officer and
his life had a lasting impression on her. She describes herself as being
a Tomboy when she was a child. She was completely dedicated to her
studies and wanted to become a psychologist. In fact, she even completed
her post-graduate degree in Criminal Psychology but later, she took up
modelling.
Her first public appearance was through the TV commercial for Perk.
After this hse auditioned for a role for Shekhar Kapur's film who
recommended her for a role in Mani Ratnam's “Dil Se” . That became her
big debut. She next acted in “Soldier” and won a Filmfare Award for Best
Female Debut for both- Soldier and Dil Se. After this, she went on to
work in Telugu films “Premante Idhera” opposite Victory Venkatesh and
“Raja Kumarudu” beside Prince Mahesh as heroine . There was no looking
back for her. She went on to work with many big banners and rest, as we
know, is history.
Her dimpled smile and versatile acting made her filmmakers’ ultimate
choice. A brilliant performer, she excelled in movies like Kya Kehna,
Sangharsh, Koi Mil Gaya, Veer-Zaara, Salaam Namaste, Kal Ho Naa Ho and
Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. The full-of-life actor also bagged the Filmfare
Award for the Best Actress for her heartfelt performance in Kal Ho Naa
Ho. Preity has also worked in Punjabi and English films.
